r. Kenneth
N. Barker, Ph.D. continues to bring prestige to the Harrison School of
Pharmacy and the University. Recently, he added to his long list of
honors. The 2002 ISMP Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr.
Barker because of his outstanding efforts in improving healthcare and
the profession of pharmacy. Dr. Barker is currently Sterling
Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Care Systems at
the School of Pharmacy at Auburn University. He is also Director of the
School ’s Center for Research on Pharmacy Operations and Designs.
Dr. Kenneth Barker’s distinguished career in pharmacy
includes a series of accomplishments and innovations that have had a
major impact on the practice of pharmacy and the quality of American
healthcare, including the APA’s highest honor, the Remington Honor
Medal. Dr. Barker is professor of Social and Administrative Sciences at
the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.
The award was presented during the 5th Annual ISMP
Cheers Awards Dinner at the 2002 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, which
was held at the Atlanta Hilton on December 10. The ISMP Lifetime
Achievement Award is presented in memory of David P. Vogel, MS, R.Ph.,
former ISMP trustee.
