Raymond Lorenz, PharmD, BCPP joined the Auburn University, Harrison School of Pharmacy faculty at the satellite campus in Mobile, AL in 2007. He obtained his PharmD degree at Albany College of Pharmacy and then went on to complete a Pharmacy Practice Residency (with emphasis in Psychiatry) and a Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Dr. Lorenz precepts students in psychiatric pharmacotherapy at his practice site, co-teaches an elective entitled, “Psychiatry in Pop Culture”, and is a coordinator for the Contemporary Aspects of Pharmacy Practice course which spans the first three years of the pharmacy curriculum.
Dr. Lorenz maintains a practice site at AltaPointe Health Systems in Mobile, AL, where he is a clinical pharmacy specialist and sees patients with a variety of mental illnesses including depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders through a collaborative drug therapy management agreement.
Dr. Lorenz also has an appointment as an adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of South Alabama, College of Medicine. He provides over 30 hours of psychopharmacology lectures to medical residents in psychiatry and assists in precepting medical students on their third year clerkship through lectures and clinical application of psychopharmacology.
Dr. Lorenz is an active member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and serves on the Communications Committee in this organization.
Dr. Lorenz’s research interests include adverse effects with antipsychotics, co-morbid mental illness with medical conditions, and novel uses for atypical antipsychotics.
