Braxton Lloyd was honored at the Alabama Pharmacy
Association’s annual
meeting in Destin, Florida on July 2, 2002 when
she received the 2002 Innovative Pharmacy Practitioner of the Year Award
for the State of Alabama. This award recognizes Dr. Lloyd’s work in
developing and implementing the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care
Center (AUPCC) which is located in the Harrison School of Pharmacy
building on Auburn University’s campus. The AUPCC was developed to
provide pharmaceutical care for Auburn University employees and their
family members. Through the AUPCC, Dr. Lloyd and other pharmacy faculty
provide education and medication monitoring for employees who are
interested in health and wellness, women’s health, or smoking cessation
and for individuals who have asthma, diabetes, and gastrointestinal
disorders.
Dr. Braxton Lloyd is a native of Cottondale, FL. She
is the daughter of Mary Catherine, and the late Willie Gray Braxton. In
addition to being the Director of the AUPCC, she is an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and teaches courses on
pharmacoeconomics; pulmonary, endocrine, and infectious disease
pharmacotherapy; and women’s health.
