ast
year, The Harrison School of Pharmacy faculty and staff came to the
rescue of then third
year student pharmacist Jenifer Stanford.
Her husband Trent was critically injured in an automobile accident
last April. He has been receiving rehabilitation services since he was
released from the hospital. With injuries as severe as his, the road to
complete recovery is long and unpredictable.
Jenifer's plight caused an outpouring of sympathy
from folks wanting to help. First, she met with faculty to catch up on
the class work she missed in the first days after her husband's
accident. Then, Trent’s employer, Wal-Mart, surprised
Jenifer with a $11,000 scholarship so she could complete her 3rd year at
HSOP. And the HSOP faculty and staff set up a scholarship fund to pay
for her 4th year.
Recently, a faculty meeting was treated to a visit
by Jenifer and Trent. The HSOP Scholarship in the amount of $11,000, completely funded by
donations from faculty and staff, was presented to the pair. Jenifer
expressed thanks to everyone who contributed. It was an touching and
emotional moment for all concerned. Trent is still in a wheelchair and
everyone is praying for his complete recovery.
