Walgreens Shows Support for HSOP

algreens invests in developing top-notch pharmacists by providing educational assistance to top-notch student pharmacists. The AU Harrison School of Pharmacy student body has been the recipient of Walgreens generosity for many years. This year is no exception. Walgreens reports 24 HSOP student pharmacists on scholarship during 2007 for a total of $127K.

Walgreens has also invested in a naming opportunity in the new Education and Clinic Wing of the School.

There are two ways in which student pharmacists may receive assistance from Walgreens.

Walgreens' "progressive scholarships" are available to students in all four years.

This is basically how it works: A student can apply at any point while they are in pharmacy school. The first year they apply, the scholarship amount is $1500.  The scholarship is progressive and is increased by $500.00 each additional year.

Walgreens Location Based Scholarships.
These can apply to either states, or areas of need. This type of scholarship is not offered in all states, but they are offered in Alabama.

This is how it works: Any student in their 3rd or 4th year is eligible for the Location Based Scholarship if they are willing to work for a time in Alabama after graduation. The Location Based Scholarship is $5000.00 for their 3rd year and $5000.00 for their 4th year. The result for the student that accepts the scholarship for all four years will be a total of $13,500.00. The scholarship is paid directly to the student. Upon graduation, students who participate in the Location Based Program are required to work as full-time registered pharmacists in the geographic area where they received the award, and for the same number of years they participated in the program.

Thank You to Walgreens
The Harrison School of Pharmacy wishes to thank the Walgreens Corporation for it's long-standing and consistent support of our School and our student pharmacists.
