WHAT IS THE EAT LESS TO FEED MORE CHALLENGE?
In Jan., the Harrison School of Pharmacy Committee of 19 began enrolling students, faculty and staff for the second annual Eat Less to Feed More Challenge. This eight-week program focuses on weight loss, increased exercise and an overall
healthy lifestyle. For $32.93, which will feed one child for an entire school year, participants  were able to attend free seminars throughout the program covering topics such as shopping healthy on a budget, proper exercise techniques and motivation for change. They also received BMI (Body Mass Index) measurement, hip and waist measurements, and blood pressure screening at the beginning and end of the program.

At the end of the eight weeks, participants who met their weight loss and exercise goals for the challenge were eligible to receive prizes from local businesses. All proceeds collected during the challenge went to benefit the World Food Programme to help fight the War on Hunger. The challenge raised over $3,000 for the cause this year.

WHAT IS THE COMMITTEE OF 19?
Auburn's Committee of 19 takes its name from a World Food Programme request that donors contribute 19 cents a day to help feed a hungry child in any of the world's poorest nations. This group represents members from every school, college and major student organization on campus. Its mission is to increase hunger awareness, highlight hunger-related academic initiatives, advocate for hunger relief and participate in hunger fundraising activities.

The World Food Programme, the largest humanitarian agency in the world, has selected Auburn University as its lead partner to establish a comprehensive model for a student-led "War on Hunger" campaign.

WHAT DOES THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME DO?
The Rome-based United Nations organization assists 80 million people annually through feeding programs, reforestation projects and other infrastructure development initiatives in more than 80 countries worldwide. By targeting a student population, the WFP is attempting to educate the next generation about global hunger and the poverty associated with it.
