Jenkins, '07, is a pediatric resident at Huntsville Hospital and Spencer
Durham, '07, is a pediatric resident at Childrens Hospital in
Birmingham. Recently they took center stage at a national forum for
pediatric research. Their poster projects were accepted to be presented
at a prominent research/poster competition sponsored by The Pediatric
Pharmacy Advocacy Group. PPAG is an international nonprofit professional
association representing the interests of pediatric pharmacists and
their patients. They are dedicated to improving medication therapy in
children. Their sole purpose is to promote safe and effective medication
use in children through communication, education, and research.

Part
of the organization's annual meeting each year is a poster session. This
session is broken down into two parts: Scientific Research and Best
Practices. Jenkins presented in the Scientific Research division. Her
poster was titled "Evaluation of Emergency Department Visits and
Treatment of Accidental Ingestion." Durham presented in the Best
Practices division. His poster was titled "Influenza Vaccination
Initiative in a Pediatric Hospital." PPAG's 2007 poster session was held
on Saturday, September 29 in Portsmouth, VA. Jenkins was also one of the
top finalists at the HSOP Annual Poster Session held each Spring.

Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Harrison School of Pharmacy
and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UAB School of
Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus
attended
the meeting as well. Dr. Eiland served as advisor for both projects. She
had photos made at the poster session and sent these of herself with two
of our fine young graduates. Congratulations to them both.
