13th Annual Scholarship
Golf Tournament

Golf cart line up at Auburn Links for the start of the 13th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament.

tudent Pharmacists, faculty, alumni and sponsors participated in the 13th Annual Harrison School of Pharmacy Scholarship Golf Tournament at Auburn Links at Mill Creek on One of the student Pharmacist teams of golfers at the 13th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament.September 21. This was HSOP's third tournament at Auburn Links. It has a beautiful environment of lakes, pebbled streams, wooden bridges and golf cart trails winding through the woods, making it a favorite for our golfers from year to year.

A Little Bit of Sugar

Everyone came to support a good cause, have a good time and put in a little practice on their golf game. Even though the rains threatened and clouds grew dark, the rain miraculously held off until the games were over. Rain overnight had fairly soaked the grounds. A few of the sand traps looked more like a creek. So the golf shoes got a little muddy, but that didn't dampen anyone's spirits. Of course, the real reason everyone came to play was to support student scholarships. This year's efforts paid off with a record GREAT NEWS!
$17,331.83 was raised for scholarships. Thanks to everyone who came and participated. That kind of news always makes for good spirits.

Aubuie pauses before tossing a large purple bucket full of golf balls onto the green below at the 13th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament Ball Drop Contest.Aubie and The Ball Drop Contest
As he did last year, Auburn's mascot, Aubie, agreed to do the honors for the Ball Drop Contest. Our slide show comes pretty close to a video of Aubie, especially it you click fast. You will see Aubie being lifted to a dizzying height in a crane as he tosses a bucket of golf balls onto the green below. The winner picked the nearest ball to the hole. This year's winner was MaryAnn Birch, a P3 from the Mobile Campus. She won $500.00, then promptly gave half of that back to the scholarship travel fund. Congrats, MaryAnn. You have certainly demonstrated that famous Auburn spirit.

Another Special Guest

Aubie always brings fun when he shows up for one of our events. But this year he shared special guest honors with former coach, Tommy Tuberville. It just happened to coincide with his 55th birthday. Although it was not known until he arrived, our able Former coach Tommy Tuberville celebrated his birthday with the participants of the 13th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament.HSOP staff had secured not one, but two decorated birthday cakes by lunchtime. How sweet it was indeed! Normally, we have enjoyed Auburn Links' sunny and spacious deck for lunch, but the weather forced us inside this time. How-ever, and the hot dogs and hamburgers and birthday cake were just as appreciated. And it didn't hurt that both Aubie and Coach Tuberville were gracious enough to pose for photos with everyone who asked.
