Briefly describe innovation
Byron Berry is the owner of Pharmacy Plus in Carrollton, Illinois, a small town of about 3,000 people. At Pharmacy Plus, the pharmacists basically just spend a lot of time with their patients. The technicians do most of the filling and this frees up the pharmacists. They perform blood pressure and blood glucose screenings and give referrals to doctors and support groups. Mr. Berry also gets referrals from doctors for his blood pressure monitoring service. He also is involved in asthma care, for example, demonstrating proper inhaler technique. The pharmacists also demonstrate proper usage of blood glucose monitors for their diabetic patients.
