Briefly describe innovation

Pharmaceutical care software package company. Health Plus Systems, Inc. Has developed a software package called Simplicity Plus for use in Windows 95 to be used in retail pharmacies. By utilizing Windows 95 , the user is able to perform multiple tasks at one time at the click of a mouse. The system is designed to allow the pharmacist more time to perform pharmaceutical care and to be more cost effective. This software package is a seamless system with point and click technology. This system allows the pharmacist to fill prescriptions, and communicate with the physician through a built in fax system and judication. Simplicity Plus allows the pharmacist to write an intervention letter to the physician and fax the letter to the physician within minutes. The system also contains reference materials, such as the Merck Manual, AHFS, Clinical Pharmacology, and Care Note Systems, as well as others. The system also screens for interactions, contraindications, allergies, drug utilization problems, as well as provide gender and age specific patient counseling information. Simplicity Plus documents and facilitates the resolution of drug related problems when intervention has occurred. There are also fifty therapeutic patient care plans on the system to be utilized by the pharmacist to help set goals with the patient for outcome and disease management. The system redesigns the pharmacy to be one where the pharmacist can spend time with the patient while their prescription is being processed. This allows time for the pharmacist to begin to improve the relationship with the patient and physician. This system is not presently available in the U.
