Briefly describe innovation
This pharmacy has been in Jeff's family since his grandfather started it in 1904. He
currently runs the pharmacy along with his father and sister. Danhauer Drug fills
approximately 180 - 200 prescriptions a day for a variety of patients. However, only 60%
of Jeff's practice is spent in community pharmacy. The other 40% is spent servicing
nursing homes , providing home infusion, and consulting. Danhauer Drug is an active member
of PCCA and sells durable medical equipment (DME). The unique aspect of Jeff's practice is
the extensive counseling service he offers for each patient. Jeff provides information
that benefits the patient's treatment regimen and insures that each prescription is
consistently screened for interactions. These services are important since Jeff also
contracts with a nursing home to fill their resident's first doses. Not only does Jeff
provide pharmaceutical care to each patient, but he is also reimbursed for it.
