Briefly describe innovation: Gives vaccinations in the pharmacy. State laws give her the authority, under the authorization of a physician, to prescribe and administer immunizations. She can vaccinate anyone that meets CDC and the American Pediatric Association guidelines. This includes most of the people that come into the pharmacy. While taking training course, she had her pharmacy remodeled to include a 4x8 counseling and administration room.

Specialized training required? Yes Participated in a CDC training program that is offered twice a year. It consists of a twelve-hour didactic course and a four-hour practical section that teaches immunization techniques and emergency procedures. It certifies pharmacists to administer medications by any route.

Software/instrumentation required? Yes Optional. Smith Klein produced an online vaccine record and documentation form. It keeps permanent records of patient's immunizations.
