Briefly describe innovation :
They do patient counseling above and beyond the usual pharmacy. One service is that they do home counseling visits for patients that are unable to come to the pharmacy. Another service is to sit down with the patients that need extensive counseling. They do this inside the pharmacy away from the counter and free of distractions. The most common topic is to train diabetics how to properly use a blood glucose monitor. They also check back with the patient to see how they are doing. Another service provided by Fowler Pharmacy is that they do drug use reviews for patients.

Method of Reimbursement:
Payor(s) : Mostly the patients themselves. They are now just learning to file. Reimbursement rate : From $20 to $50 per counseling session.

Is documentation required? : No, but will start using the HICFA form in the future.

Specialized training required? : Yes, on the job training to gain experience.

Software/instrumentation required? : Yes, they use Carestream which is a cognitive services program.
