Briefly describe innovation
Smith Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy, currently undergoing remodeling in order to be more geared towards patient care. The employees of this pharmacy are currently preparing to implement a consulting program, JAS Corps, in which they will provide special programs to patients diagnosed with asthma, diabetes, and cardiac disease. They intend to take blood pressure readings and are applying to be a licensed laboratory so that they may monitor blood-glucose levels. The key to this new system is that pharmacists will focus on patient counseling and drug monitoring while technicians take on more responsibilities in the area of dispensing. The program is projected to be fully implemented in June of 1997.
