Innovation

Currently has a medication monitoring compliance program for those hypertensive and hyperlipidemia patients. The drugs covered by this program are Norvasc, Pravochol and Lotensin. Each patient receives a personalized letter from the pharmacist to remind them of upcoming refills. This practice has shown an increase in these patients refill percentages.

Also provided in only two stores is a blood pressure monitoring service. It has been made available now for four months and has a very limited number of patients involved.

Reimbursement

Currently there is no fee or reimbursement required for the medication monitoring compliance program. Its sole purpose is for a return on investment strategy.

The blood pressure monitoring service has a ten dollar enrollment fee (paid by the patient) and a one dollar and fifty cent charge for every measurement taken(also paid for by the patient).

Documentation

For the medication monitoring compliance program there is no documentation required or used.

The blood pressure monitoring service kept patient specific records of each measurement. If any abnormality should develop the pharmacist will contact the physician.

Specialized Training

No training is required for the medication monitoring compliance program.

The only training required for the blood pressure monitoring service is a thirty-minute session. The session explains how the software works and what is to be expected from those performing the measurements.

Software Required

For the medication monitoring compliance program all that is needed is a Microsoft Word program. The blood pressure monitoring service uses the DynaPulse software.
