Innovation: Spectrum Home Solutions provides home infusion therapy, with a goal of getting the patient out of the hospital and back into their home while remaining on necessary treatments. The main aspects of treatment include intravenous antibiotic therapy and total parenteral nutrition therapy, working with everything from ambulatory pumps to IV access devices. The Home infusion therapy requires close working relations with physicians, nurses, and home health care specialists.
Method of reimbursement: Spectrum Home Solutions have a variety of ways to be reimbursed, but basically comes down to this: reimbursement in any way possible. Sources include Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance companies, cash, and agreements with local hospitals and health centers. Spectrum Home Solutions does provide some services to the indigent free of charge.
Reimbursement rate: Is mostly based on the service performed, but is sometimes charged per visit.
Documentation required: Yes, everything is documented and kept in a logbook for easy review.
Specialized training required: David underwent no formal training, but was trained on the job by a colleague who had been heavily involved in home health care on the East Coast.
Software/instrumentation required: Spectrum Home Solutions use the CPR Plus by Definitive Home Care Inc., and this upcoming July will be incorporating another program- Medispan- into this CPR Plus system. The addition of Medispan will help advance the CPR Plus system by increasing monitoring for drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, ADRs, best prospective treatments, etc.
