Briefly describe innovation

Extemporaneous compounding is the primary focus of this pharmacy practice. The most commonly compounded dosage forms are capsules, suspensions, suppositories and topical ointments. The pharmacy is also involved in home IV preparation and delivery (including chemotherapeutic agents), total peripheral nutrition, pain management, home medical equipment, and homeopathic medicine. The pharmacy employs two nurses to administer the home IV therapy and two full-time respiratory therapists to manage their home medical equipment which includes oxygen machines and CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines which are used to treat sleep apnea. The pharmacy is also involved in educating the patients on how to use their medications and equipment. The education session lasts from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours and the charge is about $150 depending on the level of training necessary.
