Briefly describe innovation:
This pharmacy is a regular retail pharmacy that sells pharmaceutical products. It does not carry tobacco products, gum, or candy. There are sixteen people employed who are required to undergo a technician certification course and pass an exam for practice in the field. The business hours for the pharmacy are Monday 9am-9pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-7pm; Friday & Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday 9am-2pm. The innovative practice has been established for the last two years. It involves Hospice Care for the patient with an emphasis to chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes. The pharmacy does medical check-ups for the patients, and counseling of patients for the illnesses is done on a group type of setting. They call each new patient for follow-up care. In order to keep up with the innovative practice, the patients profile records are stored on a specialized software program. The pharmacy also has a 24-hour hospice care emergency line for dispensing any medicines or for any emergencies. It is a pager number.
