Application Deadlines - Academic Year 2010

The following timeline applies to all admission applications for the graduate program in Pharmacal Sciences at Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy.

January 4, 2010 (International Students)     January 30, 2010 (Domestic Students)

Applications for Fall, 2010 and required documentation outlined below must received by the Department of Pharmacal Sciences and the Auburn University Graduate School by the deadlines listed above.  Each application must be complete in order to be considered.   To ensure that an application will be completed in time for review, it is strongly recommended that the materials be submitted as early as possible.  Applications submitted close to the deadline may not be processed in time to receive consideration.

   Admissions Requirements

If after reading the admission requirements and information you still have questions, please contact the Department of Pharmacal Sciences Graduate Program (aupyps@auburn.edu).  Inquiries to specific faculty members or the Pharmacal Sciences Department head cannot be answered individually.

  These are general requirements and should be considered minimums:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in pharmacy or other health profession, biology, zoology, physiology, chemistry, physics or psychology from an accredited college or university;
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test;
  • Successful international applicants must score at least 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper version (pBT) 213 on the computer version (cBT) and 79 on the internet version (IBT).  Additionally, successful applicants must score a minimum of 16 on the listening, reading, speaking and writing components of the IBT.  Auburn will also accept a 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Exam.  AUBURN UNIVERSITY’S ETS INSTITUTION CODE IS 1005;
  • Three letters of recommendation (to be mailed directly to the Department of Pharmacal Sciences);
  • International applicants must, if accepted into a graduate program, show proof of a comprehensive medical insurance plan, and demonstrate full financial sponsorship.  An Official Statement of Financing For International Students Form must be completed;
  • Applicant must provide one official transcript of all undergraduate and any graduate credits from each school previously attended.  The Graduate School will acquire any Auburn University transcripts for you;
  • Application Processing Fee of $50/Domestic and $60/International.  This fee will not be waived for any reason and your application will not be processed and sent to our department for review if the fee is not paid.

  Procedures

  • Two different offices at Auburn University work to complete your application.  Some materials are sent to the Graduate School, which will evaluate them to determine that the applicant meets the university’s criteria for admission; some materials are sent directly to the Department of Pharmacal Sciences.

  1. Official copy of GRE scores
  2. Official copy of TOEFL scores (for international students)
  3. Official copies of all transcripts
  4. Complete Graduate School online application form (link provided below)
  5. Completed Official Statement of Financing For International Students Form
  6. Processing fee of $50/Domestic or $60/International

  1. Three letters of recommendation, each one in a sealed envelope with the author’s signature over the seal.
  2. A Statement of Purpose.  We require all prospective students to write a Statement of Purpose essay of up to 1,000 words.  It should include why you want to study the specific area that interests you, what you will do with your degree once obtained, why you think the specific area is important  and reasons you think you should be admitted (what strengths do you bring to the program)
  3. Resume or CV
  4. An Application for Graduate Assistantships (right click to download) should be completed and returned to this office

  To Apply

To log in to the admission site for the first time, click on E-Application and then click on first time user account creation.  Be sure to specify the degree program and area of specialization on the application form.  A fee of $50/Domestic or $60/International will be charged by the Graduate School for processing the completed application for admission.  Once the admission application materials are received by the Graduate School they will be forwarded to this Department for review by the Graduate Studies Committee.  You will receive an admission decision thereafter.
