Degrees Offered
The Department of Pharmacal Sciences, through the Graduate School of Auburn University, offers graduate study for both the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees focusing primarily on the pharmaceutical sciences disciplines: Pharmacology, Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutics. The program allows students to specialize in one of the four disciplines of the pharmaceutical sciences while at the same time affording education and research experience in the other disciplinary components of the program.

Medicinal Chemistry deals with the application of organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and biochemistry to studies of actions of chemical substances at cellular and molecular levels.

Pharmaceutics is the study of the theories and techniques of mathematics, chemistry and biological sciences as they apply to physical and chemical stability and biological efficacy of medicinal agents and their dosage forms.

Pharmacology / Toxicology is the study of the biochemical and molecular modes and mechanisms of action of biologically-active substances.
