Phi Lambda Sigma National Leadership Society, was founded at Auburn University in 1965, and the national office still remains on the Auburn Campus. The purpose of Phi Lambda Sigma is to recognize and promote the development of leadership qualities in the pharmacy family, especially among pharmacy students since they will be the future leaders in the profession of pharmacy.

Nomination for membership in Phi Lambda Sigma comes from existing membersof the Society, and no greater honor can be bestowed upon a person than to be recognized as a leader by his peers. Eligibility for membership includes:

  • high moral and ethical character,
  • completion of three quarters in the School of Pharmacy, and
  • a grade point average of at least 2.5.

Furthermore, prospective members are nominated on the basis of their demonstration of dedication, service, and leadership in the advancement of pharmacy. Through recognition of dedication and service by pharmacy students, Phi Lambda Sigma provides incentive for the development of future leadership potential for the profession of pharmacy.
