The program was founded by Dr. Robert E. Smith. This extracurricular program focuses on a yearlong sequence of events and programs designed to enhance student  s awareness of leadership skills and opportunities. <br /><br /> <strong><span style="color: #ff6600">Program Objectives</span></strong> <br />Upon completion of the Pharmacy Leadership Forum, each student pharmacist would have: </p> <ul> <li>Enhanced their awareness of the opportunities to provide leadership within the healthcare system, their individual communities, their families and their own personal life,</li> <li>Developed life-long habits related to the application of leadership skills and abilities within their professional and personal life,</li> <li>Developed a better personal awareness of self,</li> <li>Enhanced their personal communication skills and self confidence as well as their abilities to solve community problems by participating within small work groups, and</li> <li>Established a professional network to enhance the accomplishments of their professional and personal goals</li> </ul> <p style="margin: 6px 6px 6px 6px; text-align: left;"> <strong><span style="color: #ff6600"> Program Significance</span></strong> <br />Leadership development does not take place in a day, but requires an extended period of time to create thoughts and habits that will significantly enable individuals to make a difference in their own lives, their profession, and in their communities. In fact, leadership development continues throughout an individual s entire life.
