The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) was founded in 1972 on the campus of Florida A&M University as the student affiliate of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA). SNPhA is an educational and service association of students who are concerned about pharmacy issues, professional development and the lack of minority representation in pharmacy and other health related professions. The Auburn chapter was created and received its charter in 1991.

The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, education and social environment of the community. To attain its purpose and objectives, SNPhA develops and coordinates programs in areas directly affecting the minority pharmacy student and health care of minority people. SNPhA further pledges to work with other organizations and public agencies in the pursuit of charitable and educational objectives. SNPhA offers numerous benefits such as:

   1. Leadership and Organizational Skills,
   2. Communication Skills,
   3. Professional Contacts,
   4. Support Group Network.

In addition, a national convention is held annually in a different city in the U.S. It allows SNPhA members the opportunity to participate in educational and career development programs, establish social and professional ties with other students, and aid in the formulation of national SNPhA policy.

Mission
The mission of SNPhA is twofold:

   1) To meet the challenges of the continuously expanding role
        of the pharmacist and
   2) To direct health care expertise toward improving
        minority communities.

This is not an easy task. It requires a life long dedication and a conscious effort toward these goals. However, those involved will reap immense benefits in the process.
