Julie Farrar, Pharm.D. is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Harrison School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacy Practice.
Dr. Farrar earned a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences from Louisiana State University in 2015, followed by her Pharm.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2019. Upon graduation, she completed a PGY-1 residency program at University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Farrar then moved on to a PGY-2 critical care residency at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Aurora, Colorado.
Her areas of specialty include critical care with her current practice in surgical/trauma intensive care. Research interests include pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, anticoagulation, traumatic brain injury, sedation, and analgesia.
Dr. Farrar is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). She has served on the ACCP National Resident Advisory Committee and the ACCP Presidential Task Force, and is currently a member of the Critical Care PRN Research Committee.
Dr. Farrar works with the trauma surgery service at USA Health University Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. University Hospital is the only hospital in south Alabama to serve as a level I trauma center, which sees more than 1,400 trauma patients per year. She regularly rounds with an interdisciplinary team while also precepting students and PGY-1 pharmacy residents.
