Sarah Vest Cogle, Pharm.D., BCCCP, is an Associate Clinical Professor the Department of Pharmacy Practice with the Harrison School of Pharmacy. Originally from Cullman, Alabama, she completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at Auburn University and graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2013.
Following graduation, she completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. She then completed a PGY-2 Critical Care Specialty residency, with an emphasis in critical care and nutrition support at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. She became a Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) in 2015.
At the HSOP, Dr. Cogle teaches concepts related to critical care, nutrition support, and sterile compounding throughout all four years of the curriculum.
Dr. Cogle is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ALSHP), and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). She was awarded the ASPEN Pharmacy Practice Section New Practitioner Award in 2016. Her research interests include pain, agitation, and delirium in critically ill patients, glycemic control in critical illness, and nutrition support in the inpatient setting.
She and her husband Kirk live in Auburn with their two daughters, Audrey and Caroline, and two Labradors, Moose and Maggie.
Dr. Cogle practices locally at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. On staff since 2015, she rounds with an interdisciplinary team in the medical/surgical ICU and oversees the adult parenteral nutrition service hospital-wide. She precepts pharmacy students and PGY-1 residents at her practice site.
