  • M.S.Ed., Teaching and Learning - Concordia University Wisconsin, 2023

Kristen A. Korankyi, Pharm.D., M.S.Ed. joined the Harrison College of Pharmacy as an assistant clinical professor in August 2023. In her position, she is an educator to students at the Harrison College of Pharmacy and to her patients as part of the USA Family Medicine Clinic.

Korankyi's responsibilities within HCOP include teaching within the practice ready curriculum, contributing to scholarly work, and advising students. At the Family Medicine Clinic, she functions as an ambulatory care pharmacist who provides counseling and optimizes medication therapy to patients with primary care disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity management.

A graduate of the High Point University Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, Korankyi received her Pharm.D. in 2021. She went on to complete a two-year pharmacy practice and academic leadership residency at Concordia University Wisconsin. While there, she also completed a master of science in education in teaching and learning.

Korankyi is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). As a member of AACP, in 2022, she was a trainee poster competition finalist for the poster entitled, “Measuring Professional Confidence and Growth Mindset in First-Year Pharmacy Students’ Drug Information Responses.” This poster’s abstract was published in AJPE following the presentation in July 2022.

She is also a member of pharmacy organizations within the previous two states she resided, the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) and the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW). As a member of NCAP, her manuscript entitled, “Impact of a Pandemic on Resilience Levels within a Health-System Pharmacy,” which was written during her Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), was published on December 15, 2021. As a member of PSW, she participated in the 2023 PSW Wisconsin Pharmacy Residency Conference, where she presented on the results of ambulatory care services started at an FQHC. This presentation was entitled, “Integrating Interprofessional Collaboration into an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Service in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).” This project was recently nominated for a quality-based award through an Eastern Wisconsin FQHC administration.

Korankyi is a second-generation Ghanian-American and enjoys traveling to different parts of the world to enjoy the culture and cuisine. Pharmacy runs in her family as her father has been a hospital and community pharmacist for many years and her sister is currently finishing her last year of pharmacy school. In her spare time, she enjoys the serenity of the beach, twinkle lights, good food, her family and friends.

Practice Site

Korankyi maintains a practice site in Mobile, AL. As an ambulatory care pharmacist for USA Family Medicine in partnership with Accordia Health, Korankyi collaborates with primary care physicians to help medically manage patients with diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity. She contributes to demonstrating the value of ambulatory care pharmacists within an outpatient setting by analyzing and documenting outcomes of patient visits.
