Allison Chung, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPPS, BCPS is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and specializes in Pediatrics. She is located on HSOP's campus in Mobile and is a Board Certified Pediatrics and Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Fellow with ACCP.

Dr. Chung was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and completed a B.S. in Biochemistry at University of California-San Diego in 1992. After completing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1999, she completed a PGY-1 residency at University of Maryland Medical Center in 2000. Prior to her academic appointment, Dr. Chung completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Pharmacology/Toxicology at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio under the direction of Michael Reed, Pharm.D. and Jeffrey Blumer, MD.

Current and past research has involved evaluation and pharmacokinetics of drugs in the pediatric critical care population, as well as use of lactobacillus, iron and vitamin D supplements in the PICU. Other research interests have included neurology, traumatic brain injury, anticonvulsants, asthma, pediatric education, and professionalism in pharmacy school.


Practice Site

Dr. Chung is currently has an active practice site in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the University of South Alabama, Women's and Children's Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She also holds an adjunct academic appointment with the University of South Alabama School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Chung has practiced at the USA HIV Women’s and Children’s clinic, USA BreathMobile and the Pediatric neurology clinic. She has obtained certificates in the ACCP Teaching and Learning Program as well as the ACCP Applied Pharmacogenomics program.
