Dr. Daniel Trujillo joined the Harrison School of Pharmacy as the Director of Assessment in January 2021. Trujillo provides assessment leadership and expertise as part of the Division of Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives.
Overall, Trujillo measures students’ learning of the competency-based curriculum. He reviews course and instructor evaluations and analyzes students’ exam scores. He also conducts focus group interviews about students’ experiences and provides consultation to performance-based assessments in the simulation lab. Taken together, these initiatives help ensure that the school is educating practice ready graduates.
Trujillo has a strong background in health sciences education and assessment. Prior to joining Auburn University, he was a lead assessment and evaluation specialist at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Trujillo also previously led assessment initiatives for the Office of Student Life and Learning at Indiana University. His research interests include evidence-based medicine, college student retention, and learning outcomes assessment in professional schools.
Trujillo’s work is published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Evidence-Based Medicine and the Journal of College Student Retention. He has also led pre-conference workshops at the Assessment Institute and delivered peer reviewed presentations at the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the American Medical Association (AMA) Research Symposium conferences.
Trujillo has lived in several states throughout the Midwest including, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana. He currently resides in Opelika, Alabama. On the weekends, he enjoys cooking new recipes for friends and family.
