Giles receives APAA Distinguished Alumnus Award

AUBURN, Alabama - Bobby Giles, a member of the Harrison College of Pharmacy Class of 1992, was recently recognized as the 2024 recipient of the Auburn Pharmacy Alumni Affiliate Distinguished Alumnus Award. The award was presented at the Auburn Breakfast at the Alabama Pharmacy Association Annual Meeting and Convention on June 10 at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Giles and his wife Stacy, also a member of the HCOP Class of 1992, own Rainsville Drugs in Rainsville, Alabama. In addition, He serves as the Government Affairs Director for the Alabama Pharmacy Association, or APA.

“Bobby has distinguished himself as a dedicated practitioner and a staunch advocate for pharmacy in Alabama,” said Dr. Leigh Ann Ross, Dean of the Harrison College of Pharmacy. “His leadership and work each day on behalf of our profession is invaluable to Auburn and HCOP, as well as pharmacists throughout the state."

Upon receiving his pharmacy degree from Auburn, Giles went on to work as an independent pharmacist at C&H Drugs in Fort Payne, Alabama from 1992-2009. He then joined Stacy at Rainsville Drugs while also helping manage Morning Glory Meadows, their assisted living facility in Fyffe, Alabama.

The Giles family moved back to Auburn in 2009, raising their two sons, Jackson and Graham.

In 2017, Giles began his current position with APA. In his role, he builds relationships with state and federal policymakers, educating legislators on the importance of the role of pharmacy in health care.
