AUBURN, Alabama – Twenty-five students were inducted into the Zeta Chapter of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society on Thursday, August 29. The initiation ceremony was held on both the Auburn and Mobile campuses. The ceremony was the 100th initiation in the chapter’s history. Rho Chi was formally chartered in 1922 with the Auburn chapter joining as the sixth overall chapter in 1925.
Dr. Paul Jungnickel, professor emeritus from the Harrison College of Pharmacy, presided over the ceremony and administered the initiation along with the chapter officers. The officers were then installed by Jungnickel and chapter president Tyler Long.
Dr. Amber Hutchison, associate clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and the 2024 Rho Chi Society Zeta Chapter 2024 Alumni Honor Roll Honoree, gave the keynote address.
Membership in The Rho Chi Society is a privilege accorded to the very few who distinguish themselves by their academic and professional achievements and who aspire to the mission and vision of the Society. Members may be elected as professional or graduate students in pharmacy, as members of faculties of schools and colleges of pharmacy, as alumni who distinguish themselves in the profession, or as honorary members by special action of the Society’s Executive Council.

Founded in 1922, Rho Chi is an international honor society for pharmaceutical sciences that seeks to advance pharmacy through intellectual leadership. To be invited to join, students must rank in the top 20 percent of their class, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have not been disciplined for violations of academic integrity or professional standards, and must be elected by a vote of the current chapter members. Auburn’s Zeta Chapter was established in 1925 as the sixth Rho Chi chapter in the country.
