Have you conducted SoTL research on medical education?
Do you have an innovative teaching idea for medical education that you would like to share but maybe you haven’t formally collected data?
We are accepting proposals that describe empirical studies of SoTL, theoretical discussions of SoTL, and descriptions of best practices of teaching in medical education. Eligible research designs include qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. Proposals for studies must briefly describe the study design, rational, methodology, and results. If your study is theoretical, provide explanation how your study connects to existing SoTL knowledge in medical education. Proposals for innovative teaching ideas must provide an outline of your idea that includes a description, rational, and outcomes. These sessions provide presenters the opportunity to share the highlights of their research or teaching idea in ten minutes.
All presenters must be current Auburn University employees. You may submit more than one proposal for review. Character limits are noted in the submission form.
Lightning Round sessions will occur on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Six presentations will be bundled by theme into a 70-minute concurrent session. Each session will have a facilitator who will monitor time and facilitate discussion. Depending on how many proposals are accepted, there may be concurrent sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
A panel of anonymous reviewers will review each proposal and provide recommendations to the conference planning committee. The process is competitive because there is limited space in the program. Names and departments of presenters will be blinded. Reviewers will assess each proposal based on the following criteria:
