Universities Fighting World Hunger is a global student-led organization that works towards a world free from hunger and malnutrition. Auburn began leading the War on Hunger in 2004 when it partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme. UFWH | Auburn has representatives from all schools and colleges on campus who develop projects throughout the year.

At the Harrison College of Pharmacy, we believe that everyone should have access to adequate nutrition, and we work towards this goal by holding multiple fundraisers and food drives that benefit our partner, the Food Bank of East Alabama. HCOP’s UFWH also works internationally by participating in the World Food Programme’s FREERICE initiative to raise funds for WFP’s food basket.

During the 2019-20 school year, HCOP’s UFWH raised awareness of food insecurity in Lee County and donated $710.98 and 805 pounds of food to the Food Bank of East Alabama. On social media each week, we aim to raise awareness of food insecurity, provide resources to residents of Lee County, and provide healthy meal recipes. We hope that you’ll join us in our war on hunger by participating in WFP’s FREERICE initiative and helping your local food bank.
